CSO Partners Outstanding Annual Report Awards 2012   -   10th Mar 2012  to  10th Jun 2012
In what one might consider to be one of the largest national events which recognizes and applauds accountability practices, the CSO Partners’ Outstanding Annual Report Awards 2012 held at New Delhi on 10th March 2012, was attended by a diverse and passionate group of Civil Society Organizations from across the country.

Instituted in the year 2009, this award aims to promote public disclosure, readability and quality of financial reporting within the voluntary sector. The 2012 awards attracted a large number of nominations from NGOs cutting across sizes, causes and geographical areas. Out of 238 entries received, organizations were shortlisted by an independent jury. The jury comprising Mr. Umesh Anand (Co-founder and Publisher of Civil Society), Shankar Venkateswaran (Director, SustainAbility), and Mr. Joselyn Martins (Chartered Accountant) revalidated the ratings and selected the final 6 national winners.

Mr. Anupam Mishra (Eminent Gandhian and Environmental Activist) who presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Nandan Maluste (President, CSO Partners) awarded the national winners with a trophy and a cash prize (Rs. 3 lakhs for the winners and Rs. 1 lakh each for the 2 runners up in each category).

This year, the first prize in the “Large NGO” category was tied: The Evangelical Fellowship of India Commission on Relief (EFICOR) and Hand in Hand India were the joint winners.  The first prize in the “Medium NGO” category was presented to Community Outreach Programme.

The runners up included the Akshaya Patra Foundation in the “Large NGO” category, and Sabuj Sangha and Astha Sansthan in the “Medium NGO “category. No awards were presented to the Small Category as the nominations in this category were unable to obtain the minimum benchmark.

A 'Guide to Annual Reporting' was released by CSO Partners at the awards ceremony, which was prepared as a set of guidelines to help NGOs prepare outstanding annual reports.
