The Government of India is planning to implement four more schemes for the welfare of minorities this financial year after an allocation of Rs 11 crore was made in the budget of 2010-11 for this purpose.
The schemes are:
• strengthening of state Waqf boards
• interest subsidy on educational loans for overseas studies
• promotional activities for linguistic minorities, and
• a scheme for containing population decline of small minorities.
With these schemes, the total number of schemes handled by the Union ministry of minority affairs will rise to 16. |
