Globalization and rapid economic development have had a deep impact on the social‚ economic, political and cultural fabric in India and delivered tremendous benefits. But while several opportunities for global participation and integration have been created, not all sections of society have been able to reap benefits equally. A critical requirement to address this disparity is synergy between the private sector, State, and society at large, to ensure that there is a common platform for working together for inclusive and sustainable growth. More than ever before, civil society organizations (CSOs) are required today to facilitate this synergy.
CSOs are broadly nongovernmental organizations, groups, communities, foundations or institutions that work towards a public good. They play an important role in drawing attention to predominant civil society concerns and aspirations, advocating and campaigning for social causes. Being influential change agents who enjoy credibility and wield considerable influence on the public, they are well positioned to organize people’s drives. Thus they could be a significant force in driving the social, economic, development agenda across different strata of society. In the post-globalization era, CSOs need to imbibe different and specialized skill sets which can enable them to function as effective‚ efficient and accountable bodies.
At CSO Partners we are committed to facilitating support services for CSOs so that they are equipped with specialized skills and capacities which can help them achieve higher performance levels in order to realize their potential. CSO Partners also plans to work with gram panchayats (village-level self government bodies) which can be significant players in driving development at the micro level.
