Globalisation and economic development has had a deep impact on the social‚ economic, political and cultural fabric in India and has delivered tremendous benefits. While it has created several opportunities for global participation and integration, not all sections of the society have been able to reap benefits from it. For a nation to achieve inclusive growth economic and social opportunities must be made available to even the un-served sections of society. While there is a need to address this disparity, it is important also to create synergies between private sector, State, and society at large to ensure that there is a common platform for working together to produce the most optimal impact for civil society. This is why today, more than ever, there is an increased relevance of civil society organisations (CSO’s) to help facilitate this.

CSO’s are essentially nongovernmental organisations, groups, communities, foundations or institutions that work towards a public good. They play an important role in drawing attention to predominant civil society concerns and aspirations, advocating and campaigning for social causes. Being influential change agents who enjoy credibility and wield considerable influence on the public, they are well positioned to organize people’s drives. Thus they could be a significant force in driving the social, economic, development agenda across different strata of the society. However in the post globalisation era, new demands are increasingly made on CSOs. These expectations underscore the need for CSOs to imbibe different and specialised skill sets which can enable them to function as effective‚ efficient and accountable bodies.

At CSO Partners we are committed to facilitating support services for CSOs so that they are equipped with specialized skills and capacities which can help them achieve higher performance levels in order to realize their potential.
